Optometry Scotland was delighted to welcome newly appointed Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) President, Brenda Rennie, to Black & Lizars in Davidson’s Mains as part of ABDO’s centenary celebrations and nationwide practice visit programme.
The visit provided an opportunity to recognise Brenda’s appointment as President and celebrate her longstanding contribution to the optical professions in Scotland. During the visit, Brenda met with dispensing optician Susan Ferguson and members of the practice team to discuss the vital role dispensing opticians continue to play in delivering high-quality patient care.
As Chair of Optometry Scotland and a member of the Black & Lizars Davidson’s Mains team, I was particularly pleased to welcome Brenda to the practice. Brenda has been a valued member of Optometry Scotland for many years, and we have greatly appreciated her support, insight and commitment to collaborative working across the sector whilst representing ABDO on the OS Board.
Her appointment as ABDO President is a significant achievement and a reflection of the respect she commands throughout the profession. As ABDO marks its 100th anniversary, Brenda’s presidency comes at an important time for optics, with opportunities to continue strengthening role dispensing opticians contribute to community eye care and the wider optical workforce.
On behalf of everyone at Optometry Scotland, I would like to congratulate Brenda on her appointment and wish her every success during her time as President.
