A Practical Classification of IOLs & EDOF Technology

November 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

THE LENS AUDIT: A Practical Classification of IOLs & EDOF Technology
Next session is on Wednesday 4TH of November 2026, 19:00- 20:00,
For optometrists and specialty optometrists (AS / SP / IP)
Patients often ask their optician about halos, reading distance, or why one lens costs more than
another, sometimes after the surgical decision is already made. This session gives you a brand
agnostic framework to answer those questions with confidence.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
• classify monofocal, enhanced monofocal, EDOF and diffractive/refractive multifocal IOLs by
optical mechanism
• rank night glare and halo risk across lens types and use it in a balanced conversation with
patients who drive at night.
We cover every major brand (Alcon, J&J Vision, Bausch + Lomb, Carl Zeiss, Hoya, BVI, Rayner,
SIFI), how near-add translates into real working distance, how pupil size changes EDOF
performance, spherical aberration and refractive targets, and how to tell a genuine recall from a
class effect.
Format: 50-minute lecture, then 10 minutes of open discussion. Bring your patient scenarios.
To register, reply to this email with your full name, GOC number and practice name. Places are
limited to 100 each session. We will send the Google Meet link upon your reply to this email.
