This presentation will review global, and local UK trends of myopia, alongside effective approaches and emerging digital resources for communicating with patients and parents. It will examine recent evidence concerning the relative and absolute lifetime risks associated with myopia, the benefits of earlier intervention, and the identification and management of pre-myopia. The session will then focus on soft contact lens options for myopia management. Current clinical evidence will be critically reviewed, including recently published longer-term data, to support evidence-based product selection and patient management.

Our guest speaker is Neema Ghorbani Mojarrad Assistant Professor at Bradford University.

Neema is an Associate Professor at the University of Bradford. He is the Chair of the British and Irish University and College Contact Lens Educators (BUCCLE), a member of the UK Myopia Consortium, an associate editor of BMJ Open Ophthalmology, and holds fellowships for both the BCLA and IACLE. His research interests include myopia management, myopia development, contact lenses, and anterior eye. He has won the 2015 Association of Optometrists Newly Qualified Optometrist of the Year award, the 2021 VDCO Peter Abel research prize, and the College of Optometrists 2022 George Giles prize.
