Today, a press release has been issued by all four nations calling for better vision standards for drivers.
Optometry Scotland, along with the eye care community across all four UK nations, is united in calling for better vision standards for drivers. Following a recent coroner’s report, it is clear that current self-declaration rules and a basic number-plate check are simply not enough to protect the public.
Together with colleagues across the UK, Optometry Scotland is urging the Government to introduce regular, mandatory vision checks at licence application and renewal — helping drivers stay safe and independent, and keeping everyone safer on our roads.
