SUMMARY:Eyecare Education Free CPD Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us for next installment in the Mark’ennovy FREE CPD Webinar series on 15th October at 7pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis lecture will consider the different areas communication necessary when supporting patients with myopia management. Considerations on discussing risk\, product and adherence to treatment with patients and their parents/carers shall be explored. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRisk – the ‘why’. How risk of myopia-related pathologies later in life can be made relevant to children and their parents/carers. What can you say and what can’t you say. What red flags do you need to consider – especially when talking to myopia parents. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProduct – what is available\, how do you explain how they work\, how can choice of product be individualised through visual task analysis. Ensuring consent at all stages. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdherence to treatment – Providing correction AND treatment rather than just correction. Helping patients understand these aren’t just glasses or contact lenses. What does good look like. Keeping an eye on how they’re going and understanding when a change is needed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur guest speaker is Alexandra Webster MSc\, PGDipE\, FBDO CL\, FHEA\, FBCLA\, who is a qualified dispensing optician and contact lens optician and has worked in both Independent and Multiple practice. Alex is a practical examiner in ophthalmic dispensing and contact lens for ABDO. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlex is also Professional Development Director at ABDO and has worked in contact lens professional services and optical education for over 15 years\, gaining a Master’s degree in Healthcare Professional Education\, and is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Education. She has also worked part-time as a lecturer in Ophthalmic Dispensing and Contact Lenses at Bradford College \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo register your free place click the button below… \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBook Now!

The complex biochemical makeup of our tears can help to unravel the answer. Moving beyond basic staining and Schirmer’s tests\, this presentation unpacks the vital role of tear biomarkers. Discover how tears can be sampled and used to detect molecular flags and inflammatory markers\, allowing clinicians to identify the root driver of the disease in their patient sitting in their consulting room chair. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEyecare Birmingham 20th September\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur next event takes place in our hometown of Birmingham on 20th September. We are proud to introduce the AL-EX Axial Length Biometer to the UK market and help play a key role in tackling myopia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe key to effective myopia management is communication. Patient’s and parents often find the concept of myopia management difficult to understand so visual aids that help to explain the condition and show graphical data to help explain where the patient is and where they are expected to be without intervention can play a big part in helping the patient and parent to make an informed decision about their care. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt Eyecare Education we pride ourselves on delivering high quality professional education\, that is why with every installation of an AL-EX Biometer we will provide full training on how to use the equipment as deliver a CPD workshop in practice to make sure your colleagues are up to speed on how to talk about and manage myopia. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in finding out more information or would like to book a demo\, feel free to get in touch via info@eyecare.education
